With Algeria's five-year Canadian wheat import around 1 million tonnes and rising each year, the New Crop Mission representatives presented 2019 crop and performance metrics, 2019 grading factors and the benefits of Canada's high-quality wheat to over 80 private industry and government members in Algeria. 

Key Findings

• A good amount of interest in Canadian farming practices including zero tillage and use of nitrogen as a fertilizer. 
• Concern expressed about Canadian wheat moisture and how it will impact quality with Algeria's current storage set-up.
• New freight on board requirements for Algeria might be a market barrier for Canadian wheat.
