Scholarships

Alberta Grains has established a number of scholarships aimed at developing future industry leaders. These scholarships are available to post-secondary students in agriculture-related studies, as well as students with a demonstrated interest in entering a career in the agriculture industry.

Barley Scholarship

In support of the next generation of agronomists and scientists, Alberta Grains is excited to offer scholarships to students actively engaged in barley and wheat research.

Value: $2,000/ student

Number of Awards: Up to three awards are available based on student merit and alignment of their research to Alberta Grains Research Priorities.

Closing Deadline: June 30, 2026

Eligibility: Full and part-time graduate and undergraduate students studying a BSc or MSc at a  Canadian academic institution. This scholarship prioritizes students conducting wheat or barley focused research with a clear commitment to entering the agriculture industry following the completion of their studies. 

To apply, please submit the following:

  • Letter confirming the student’s status from their academic supervisor
  • CV
  • One paragraph describing the student’s career goals
  • A one-page summary of the student’s research project

Project summaries should include a statement of how the research could be beneficial to barley producers and the industry. Preference will be given to students with research projects that align with Alberta Grains 2025 Research Priorities.
