Canadian Grain Commission – Updates to Grain Grading
The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) recently announced changes to grain grading for the upcoming crop year. Relevant updates include:
1) A new variety designation lists for food barley, to distinguish between the unique characteristics of food barley, such as high beta-glucan and malting or feed barley varieties.
2) The inclusion of the moisture shrinkage calculations for grain that has been artificially dried is being updated to also be applicable at CGC-licensed terminal elevators.
