Angus Reid survey finds policy environment, extreme weather and protectionism as primary risks in the Agri-Food sector
The Angus Reid Institute together with the Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute (CAPI) ,and support by the Global Institute or Food Security (GIFS) released an Agri-Food Risk report earlier this month, after surveying over 500 stakeholders in the Canadian agricultural sector including farmers. The survey found overwhelmingly that the three greatest areas of concerns related to: the policy and regulatory environment, extreme weather (drought, floods and wildfires) and trade barriers and protectionism. Close in line behind were concerns of input affordability, farm income and debt and loss of farmland.
