Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (GATE): Investing in the Future of Canadian Cereals
On April 10, 2025, the Province of Manitoba announced $13 million in funding for the Global Agricultural Technology Exchange (GATE). In a letter to newly elected Prime Minister Mark Carney, Premier of Manitoba Wab Kinew urged federal support for Western Canadian farmers to maintain and access global markets through GATE - an initiative aimed to establish a cutting-edge facility that will drive market access, innovation, and development within Canada’s cereals sector.
As a member of Cereals Canada, Alberta Grains has two representatives on its board. Cereals Canada brings together farmers, exporters, breeders, and processors to support market development and provide technical expertise. Alberta Grains, along with other farm organizations across the prairies, have committed $4 million in funding toward GATE, to be dispersed as project milestones are established and achieved.
