Alberta Barley Scholarship

Alberta Barley administers $6,000 worth of scholarships annually. In support of the next generation of barley agronomists and scientists, Alberta Barley is excited to offer scholarships to students actively engaged in barley research. 

Value: $2,000/ student

Number of Awards: Up to three awards are available based on student merit and alignment of their research to Alberta Barley Research Priorities.

Application Open: March 31, 2023

Closing Deadline: May 31, 2023

Eligibility: Full and part-time graduate and undergraduate students studying at Canadian academic institutions. Preference will be given to students who intend to have a career path that would involve working in agriculture or academia in Western Canada.

To apply, please submit the following:

• Letter confirming the student’s status from their academic supervisor
• CV
• One paragraph describing the student’s career goals
• A one-page summary of the student’s research project

Project summaries should include a statement of how the research could be beneficial to barley producers and the industry. Preference will be given to students with research projects that align with Alberta Barley’s 2022 Research Priorities.
