Free Webinar: Support for cereal grain on-farm, field scale trials in Alberta

Date: March 04 @ 9 to 10 a.m. MST | Location: Online | Cost: $Free

Alberta Grains and Olds College invite Alberta cereal farmers to a free joint webinar focused on on-farm, field-scale research trials and opportunities to participate in the 2026 growing season.

This session will highlight results from recent Alberta on-farm trials and explain how producers can access support to design, run, and analyze their own trials.

Sessions Include:

Options for validating cereal agronomic questions with research trial support through Alberta Grains Plot2Field program.
Presented by Rob Dunn PAg., Cropping System Specialist, FarmWise Inc.

Session Overview: The Alberta Grains Plot2Farm program provides farmers with support for field scale research trial design, data collection, and results analysis to help test and validate on-farm wheat and barley agronomic practices.  Previous year results will be reviewed along with potential 2026 trial opportunities.

Your field, your rates: Lessons from On-Farm Precision Experimentation and what’s ahead for 2026.
Presented by Dr. Felippe Karp and Daniel Stafner, Olds College of Agriculture & Technology .

Session Overview: Are your input rates the most profitable for your field? On-Farm Precision Experimentation (OFPE) allows producers to test that question on their own land (and you might be right!).

Dr. Felippe Karp and Daniel Stefner will share results from two years of OFPE trials in Alberta, including what the data show about economically optimal seeding and nitrogen rates (variable and fixed), and walk through what it takes to participate in the upcoming 2026 growing season.
