CMBTC New Crop Seminar 2024

The Canadian Malt Barley Technical Centre (CMBTC) hosted a successful seminar October 15-16, 2024 to bring together domestic and international stakeholders across the barley value chain to provide an overview of the 2024 barley harvest across Canada. The event provided an overview of the Canada’s barley production and supply, followed by hands-on session with 2024 malting barley samples. The session allowed international brewers and maltsters from China and Mexico, to hear about the malt quality, growing high-quality malting barley and sustainability as well a review of new malt varieties. Alberta Grains, a voting member of the CMBTC, had farmers representatives participating and continue to be supportive of the important work of CMBTC in providing technical services and marketing support across the barley value chain.
