Canadian Grain Commission – Stakeholder Feedback on Grains Standards Advisory Forum
The Canadian Grain Commission (CGC) established a Western Standards Committee and Eastern Standards Committee which recommend standards and specifications for grades of grain, along with four crop-specific advisory committees covering wheat, barley and other cereal grains, oilseeds, and pulses.
The CGC is proposing to replace these four appointed advisory committees with a single Grain Standards Advisory Forum. Under this proposal, the forum would meet at least twice a year virtually, with participation open to any grain sector organization, producer, interested stakeholder or CGC licensee.
The CGC is seeking feedback on the current advisory committee structure, the proposed changes, and any suggestions for improvements to the proposal. Written input must be submitted by March 15, 2025. Alberta Grains will be contributing to the consultation.
