A visit with Senator Rob Black, to discuss newly released Senate soil report.

In April 2022, the Senate Committee on Agriculture and Forestry began studying the status of soil health in Canada. In June of this year, the final report, ‘Critical Ground: Why Soil is Essential to Canada’s Economic, Environmental, Human, and Social Health’. The report digs into the critical role of soil in mitigating climate change, contributing to biodiversity and putting food on tables. Alberta Grains was invited to discuss the report with Senator Black, committee Chair, when he made a stop at Hilton Ventures and Origin Malting and Brewing to visit farmer Spencer Hilton. Now that the report is complete the government will have 150 days to consider recommendations. Alberta Grains is grateful to the work of Senator Black and the committee for their ongoing commitment to the agricultural sector.
