Alberta Grains Submits Feedback on Phase 2 of Water Engagement

Over the past few months, the Government of Alberta has engaged stakeholders on ways to increase water availability across the province.

In Phase 1, which concluded in January, Team Alberta Crops (including Alberta Grains) provided input on improving on-farm water management, expanding storage capacity, and investing in education. In Phase 2, the government shared proposed amendments to the Water Act based on that feedback.

Alberta Grains’ submission emphasized reducing red tape to support controlled tile drainage adoption, maintaining the current measurement and reporting system for small license holders and developing clear, risk-based criteria for inter-basin transfers.
