Farmers’ Voices Front and Centre at Calgary Stampede Events

The Calgary Stampede provided an engaging opportunity for Alberta Grains to highlight farmgate issues and strengthen relationships with policymakers.

Conservative Party of Canada Leader Pierre Poilievre and MP John Barlow met with the Alberta Grains board of directors to discuss agricultural priorities and respond to questions.

Alberta Grains and the Alberta Small Brewers Association also co-hosted a successful Combine to Craft event, which welcomed industry leaders and elected officials from across the political spectrum—including remarks from federal Agriculture Minister Heath MacDonald.

During Combine to Craft, a memorandum of understanding was signed between Alberta Grains, Alberta Agriculture and Irrigation, Alberta Environment and Protected Areas, and Fertilizer Canada to support the adoption of 4R nutrient stewardship practices. This agreement will provide farmers with practical tools to enhance nutrient management and demonstrate environmental stewardship.

Additionally, Alberta Grains, in collaboration with Team Alberta Crops, hosted a farm tour near Airdrie, giving stakeholders an opportunity to engage directly with producers and hear firsthand about current challenges and policy needs.
