Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (GATE): Investing in the Future of Canadian Cereals
The Global Agriculture Technology Exchange (GATE) is a new initiative aimed at advancing market access, innovation and development in Canada’s cereals sector.
Alberta Grains, as a member of Cereals Canada, has joined other Prairie farm groups in committing $4 million to the project, with funding tied to key milestones. U.K.-based bakery Warburtons, which purchases significant volumes of wheat from Western Canada, recently contributed $650,000 to support GATE.
For the past 15 years, Warburtons has relied on Cereals Canada’s facilities to analyze and test Canadian wheat before it’s shipped. Their support reflects their confidence in the role GATE will play in enhancing Canadian grain’s global competitiveness.
