Bunge-Viterra Merger Update
Alberta Grains, together with our partner commissions in Saskatchewan, met with officials from Transport Canada this month to get an update on the Bunge-Viterra merger now that the Transportation Canada, Public Interest Assessment period has closed.
The resulting report, which will not be released publicly, will be reviewed by the Minister of Transport Canada, Pablo Rodriquez who will enter into conversations with the interested parties before a recommendation can be made to a cabinet committee for consideration, and ultimately for decision by the governor in council and cabinet.
This process will likely be disrupted by the rising of the House of Commons for summer break later this week. The House of Commons resumes session on September 16, 2025.
