AFSC Soil Organic Carbon Pilot

For the 2025/26 crop year, AFSC’s will be advancing their pilot project on soil organic carbon (SOC), focused on reducing production risks and increasing drought resilience on farms by improving best management practices to increase SOC.

The project will use satellite data and actuarial analysis to measure risk. The pilot is limited to wheat production in AFSC’s Risk Area 13 for this year and could garner producers a small premium reduction.   The project is part of the Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership (SCAP) between the provincial and federal government.
