Team Alberta Crop breakfast during Agri-trade

Earlier this month, on the heels of Agri-Trade in Red Deer, Team Alberta Crops brought close to 80 farmers together for our annual members’ breakfast. Team Alberta Crops is a collaboration of seven of Alberta’s leading crop commissions that advocates on policy issues affecting farmers. Given the current climate, this year’s focus was on markets.

Neil Blue from the Government of Alberta’s crop economics division, provided a timely market update, highlighting current pressures on crop prices and considerations for crop marketing. Milt Poirie, from the Ag Transport Coalition outlined rail's vital importance in the grain supply chain and how weak performance harms farmer’s pocketbooks.

We were pleased to have ADM Karen Wronko, with Agricultural and Irrigation provide open remarks and share updates from the department on current efforts to support farmers as well as have greetings sent from Premier Smith.
