Ag Plastics Survey – Deadline Extended to October 3rd

The deadline to provide input on Alberta’s grain bag and twine recycling program has been extended to October 3, 2025.

The province is considering making the pilot permanent under an extended producer responsibility (EPR) framework, with a phased rollout starting in 2028. Alberta Grains supports a regulated EPR system to provide consistency and fairness, while highlighting key priorities: clear recycling standards, accessible collection sites, transparency on fees, a fair user-pay model and expansion to other on-farm plastics.
