FPT Ministers’ meeting sets the stage for next ag. policy framework
Federal, provincial, and territorial (FPT) agriculture ministers met in Winnipeg this month to discuss challenges facing the agriculture sector, including trade disruptions, tariffs, the importance of a science-based regulatory framework and investing in critical infrastructure to ensure a resilient and competitive sector.
Ministers discussed opportunities for potential reforms to the BRM suite and tasked officials with continuing to assess and develop options that ensure program are more coherent and responsive.
The next annual meeting will take place in Halifax in 2026 when FPT ministers will develop the policy vision for the next agricultural policy framework, which will be the successor to the current Sustainable Canadian Agricultural Partnership starting in 2028.
