Right to Repair – Tell Us What You Think – Before October 31

In November 2024, Bills C-244 and C-294 received royal assent, marking an important step forward for farmers. These changes to the Copyright Act give producers and third parties the ability to diagnose, maintain, and repair equipment without violating copyright protections. They also support greater interoperability, allowing equipment, software, and data systems to work together more effectively.

Alberta Grains has strongly supported these reforms to help ensure timely repairs during critical seasons. Now, Team Alberta Crops, the Intensive Livestock Working Group, and the Farmers’ Advocate Office are seeking producer feedback on how right-to-repair legislation can benefit your operation.
