CrossRoads 2026: Where Alberta agriculture gathers to 'Grow Boldly'

This winter, Alberta’s agriculture community will converge in Edmonton for one of the province’s most anticipated industry events, the CrossRoads Crop Conference. CrossRoads 2026, set for January 27–28 at the DoubleTree by Hilton West Edmonton, returns under the theme Grow Boldly.

Entering its fourth year of existence as the successor to FarmTech, CrossRoads has become so much more than just a conference, it’s a meeting ground where producers, researchers and industry leaders connect to share knowledge, spark innovation and prepare for the future of farming in Western Canada.

Organizers expect more than 300 delegates to attend, with a mix of producers, researchers and agri-business representatives making up the majority of the crowd. The balance reflects CrossRoads unique character: practical on-farm insights blended with forward-looking thought leadership. The result is a program designed to meet farmers where they are while pushing conversations about what’s next for agriculture.

A gathering with purpose

“I’m truly excited for this year’s Crossroads Crop Conference because it brings producers together to learn, connect and prepare for the opportunities and challenges ahead,” says Paula Law, chair of Crossroads Crop Conference committee. “The strength of our industry lies in sharing knowledge and building relationships, and this event is designed to give producers practical tools and fresh insights they can take home to their operations. If you want to stay ahead of the curve and be part of shaping the future of agriculture, this is the place to be.”?

Law noted that Grow Boldly reflects more than a slogan, it’s a call to action. From unpredictable weather and shifting markets to emerging technologies and sustainability demands, producers are navigating constant change. CrossRoads offers a space to exchange strategies, build resilience and ensure Alberta farmers remain ahead of the curve.

A historic first: One conference, three AGMs

A highlight of CrossRoads 2026 is the decision to host the annual general meetings (AGMs) of Alberta Canola, Alberta Pulse Growers and Alberta Grains in one venue for the first time. Traditionally held separately, the unified format aims to make participation easier for farmers and strengthen collaboration across the sector.

“We’re very excited to be hosting all three AGMs under one roof for the first time ever,” said Alberta Grains senior manager of events and sponsorship Stacy Zimmer. “The intent is to be more farmer-focused than ever and the accessibility for Alberta farmers to attend all three AGMs in one convenient place was a no brainer for all involved.”

These 90-minute sessions will be interwoven with expert presentations covering farm management, innovation and sustainability. Ensuring that producers not only weigh in on governance but also leave with actionable insights.

Inspiration from the keynote stage

The keynote lineup reflects the breadth of conversations shaping Canadian agriculture today:

  • Chris Sheetz, popular radio personality, will highlight the power of storytelling and community
  • Andrew Coyne, Globe and Mail columnist, will bring his sharp analysis of Canada’s shifting political and economic landscape.
  • Lisa Ashton, RBC agricultural specialist, will deliver strategies for building financial resilience in farming operations.

Together, these voices promise a mix of inspiration, context and practical guidance.

Growing boldly, together

Beyond keynotes and AGMs, CrossRoads 2026 offers a full program of expert sessions tackling real on-farm challenges. Each is designed to provide producers with new ideas and tools they can immediately apply back home.

Networking remains at the heart of the event. From hot breakfasts both mornings to dedicated coffee breaks, producers will find ample opportunities to connect with peers, industry reps and researchers.

The always-popular industry mixer returns on Tuesday evening, featuring local craft beers, a signature mocktail and light refreshments and a casual setting where conversations flow as easily as the pints.

With its mix of governance, practical advice and inspiring big-picture discussion, CrossRoads 2026 is shaping up to be more than a conference, it’s a rallying point for Alberta agriculture.

CrossRoads 2026 is where Alberta agriculture connects, collaborates and most importantly, grows boldly.
