Missed the Alberta Wheat and Barley Commissions’ Amalgamation Town Hall?

On March 15, 2023, the two commissions - Alberta Barley and the Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC) hosted a virtual Town Hall session to garner feedback about the proposed plan regulation of the one formal entity.

During this one-hour online session, farmers and industry members learned about the following: 

• The proposed new Plan Regulation for the new commission including updates from existing wheat and barley plan regulations 
• Insight into the amalgamation critical path 
• The announcement of the interim board of directors 

The Town Hall was co-chaired by Alberta Barley chair Tara Sawyer, AWC chair Greg Sears, and panelists commissions’ general manager Tom Steve and chief operating officer Syeda Khurram. Great discussions about the next steps and key items such as check-off levy amounts were had during the session with farmers and industry. The commissions are looking for feedback about the new commission’s Plan Regulation that was presented. We are asking all attendees, including those who watch the Town Hall recording, to complete the feedback survey before March 31, 2023.
