Pre-harvest glyphosate tips and tools

Did you know that applying pre-harvest glyphosate too early can hurt the marketability of your grains? When pre-harvest glyphosate is applied before the grain moisture reaches 30%, it can move through the plant into the grains, causing unacceptable levels of glyphosate residue.

The thumbnail test is a handy way to determine if grain moisture is below 30%. Press your thumbnail firmly into a kernel; if it feels firm, and your thumbnail leaves a visible dent that does not bounce back, the grain has reached hard dough stage and typically has moisture <30%.
