Each year Alberta Agriculture & Forestry develops insect pest maps for major Alberta pests. Shelley Barkley and her team travel across the province to collect insect samples and assess insect populations through various methods. For wheat and barley, important pest maps include grasshopper, wheat midge and wheat stem sawfly.
