Insect pest update

Insect pest reports are rolling in as the season starts. Most recently:

• Newly-hatched two-striped grasshopper nymphs were observed in southern AB and southern SK on May 10, 2025.
• Cereal leaf beetle adults and eggs were found near Vauxhall/Taber in barley on May 9, 2025.
• Cutworms are continuously reported as an issue – especially red-backed and dingy cutworms in wheat fields on canola/mustard stubble.
