Resilient rotations - Making more productive, sustainable and resilient cropping systems

For many logistic reasons, crop rotation in Western Canada has been heavily weighed on wheat and canola. However, changes in climate, soil and policies have put additional pressure on traditional crop rotations. To help growers find the rotations that are efficient and profitable, researchers conducted a five-year project at seven locations across the prairie provinces. They assessed the crop rotation performance through nitrogen fertilizer use efficiency, precipitation use efficiency, and most importantly - yield and net revenue.

The results are now available in factsheets. Check out the factsheets to find out which crop rotations work best in your area.

In addition, Dr. Sheri Strydhorst will be presenting on how to get the most out of crop rotations at the Top Crop Summit event later this month.
